Episode 31: Supporting Kids with Special Needs & Their Families

In this episode, we talk to Danica Elder, a special needs specialist and educator, on the importance of supporting kids with special needs and their families. Children with special needs come in all different shapes and sizes, but they have been built with the same God-sized hole in their hearts! We feel that ALL kids need to hear about the gospel and that Jesus has particular concern for the kids who need a little “extra” support. As a community, it’s important we understand this and show our love and support to them and their families. Danica believes that helping these special families is one of the most loving acts we can do.

Danica provides some practical tips for how to support to these amazing kiddos and examples of ways to show support for their families. If you have been given the privilege of walking alongside a child with special needs, you don’t want to miss this episode. Let’s go….

DANICA ELDER is an elementary school teacher, who specializes in special needs children. Her passion for working with kids who need extra support comes from her brother — who is non-verbal autistic. She also has a heart for Jesus and believes that these kids have a greater need for hearing about the gospel.
