Strategic Year-End Giving that Makes an Eternal Impact

As November arrives, people begin to focus on gratitude. It’s a season of thanksgiving — and naturally, a time when many of us think about giving back. Whether it’s sharing a meal, volunteering your time, or making a financial gift, November invites us to pause and reflect on how we can bless others.

With the year drawing to a close, it’s also the perfect time to consider strategic year-end giving — generosity that not only supports the causes you care about but also multiplies eternal impact. In my years of working with generous families, I’ve seen how thoughtful giving can align spiritual conviction with smart financial stewardship. The joy of generosity grows even deeper when your giving is both heartfelt and well planned.

Plan Ahead for Maximum Impact

Remember that donations must be received or postmarked by December 31st to count toward your current year’s tax return. I’ve seen many donors rush at the end of December, only to miss key tax advantages or opportunities for greater impact. Taking time now allows you to give intentionally — not reactively.

Let’s break down the various ways people can give, as well as a few tips:

Cash and Non-Cash Gifts

Cash or online gifts are always appreciated, but there are often more strategic ways to give too.

Many people don’t realize that non-cash gifts—such as stocks, mutual funds, or even business interests—can often create a greater Kingdom impact while offering stronger tax advantages. For example, a supporter of Bible2School who donates appreciated stock instead of cash can avoid paying capital gains tax and, in many cases, increase their giving capacity by 20% or more — all while helping children hear the truth of God’s Word.

If you already have a Donor-Advised Fund (DAF) through your foundation or investment firm, it’s simple to recommend a year-end gift to Bible2School.

QCDs – IRA Giving Option

If you’re 70½ or older and have an IRA, you can make what’s called a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly to Bible2School. A QCD counts toward your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) but isn’t taxed as income — making it one of the most tax-efficient ways to give.

A retired couple I recently met discovered that by using a QCD, they could satisfy their annual RMD while redirecting those funds to a cause they deeply love — helping public school children hear about Jesus. It brought them tremendous joy to know their “mandatory withdrawal” could be transformed into meaningful ministry.

Legacy & Planned Giving

Bible2School now offers Legacy and Planned Giving options so you can include Bible2School in your will, trust, or estate plan. It’s a meaningful way to extend your faith and values to future generations of children.

In my own experience as a financial advisor and minister, I’ve discovered that a well-designed legacy plan is like planting seeds in soil you may never walk on — but know it will produce eternal fruit.

Next Steps

As you pray and plan your year-end giving, remember that every gift — big or small — has the power to change lives and point others to Jesus. When you give strategically, you’re not just closing out the year well — you’re investing in eternity.

Sharing The Wonder Of Jesus With Children
Kori Pennypacker highlights the beauty of wonder—a childlike response of curiosity and delight—using her grandson’s reaction to Christmas lights as a picture of how children naturally respond to Jesus, the true “light of the world.” The blog offers three simple ways to cultivate the wonder of Jesus in our lives, and how to share it with children.
